What we did to review EduBirdie's Essay Writing Service
Let’s face it, sometimes you just don’t have the time to write an essay. There are many things that may limit your time! Maybe you’re working a 9 to 5 job or have a family to take care of.
And you’re here because you can relate to that! You’re interested in purchasing an Edubirdie essay but want to read a real Edubirdie review before you do so.
When you search ‘EduBirdie review’ on google, you’re met with millions of sketchy 5-star reviews that aren’t helping you make your decision. You start to question if a genuine EduBirdie review even exists!
That’s where we come in! Here at Gradehacker, we are qualified to review Edubirdie, considering that we also offer college students assistance services. We have years of experience dominating this industry and know what makes an essay writing service trustworthy and successful.
You’re in the right place. In this article, we commit to giving you an objective, unbiased, no B.S., Edubirdie review. We will share the good, the bad, and the ugly about this service with you.
We actually purchased an Edubirdie essay for this review, so we’ve got the inside scoop! Let’s talk a bit more about the essay we ordered.
We ordered a 4-page nursing essay for a microbiology course. What was the essay about? Well, in the essay, you had to describe a specific microorganism, covering different required sections such as the pathogen’s virulence factors or the infectious disease it causes. Our selected microorganism was Bacillus Anthracis.
We ordered the essay on a Tuesday and put the deadline for that Saturday, so we gave our Edubirdie writer 4 days to complete it.
By reading this article, you will get a walkthrough of how Edubirdie works and will know if their essay writing service will be a good fit for you.

Edubirdie's Ordering Process
In the first section of this Edubirdie detailed review, we will give you a run-through of the ordering process involved in Edubirdie.
Ordering Form
If you want to order an essay, where do you begin? Well, the first step is to click the bright yellow ‘write my paper’ button on Edubirdie’s landing page.
After clicking this button, you will be taken to Edubirdie’s ordering form.
Edubirdie doesn’t only write essays; they also have an editing service. You will select the service you want to purchase at the top of the ordering form.
So, you’re probably wondering what the heck do I write in the ordering form? Well, in this form, you will fill out the following:
- Essay deadline and time to be delivered
- Number of pages
- Subject
- Essay topic
- Essay instructions
Also, there is a space where you can upload documents. There you can upload any relevant documents such as your essay’s instructions or the grading rubric.
One thing important to mention is the “writer quality” section of the ordering form. There are three writer qualities that you can choose from.
The first is the basic quality titled ‘all writers’, which does not have an additional cost. At this level, supposedly, all of Edubirdie’s writers will be able to see your order.
Then there’s the Gold level where only Edubirdie’s top 50% of writers will see your order. This writer quality costs an additional 10%. Lastly, there’s the platinum level where Edubirdie’s top 20% of writers will see your order. This writer quality costs an additional 20%.
In our case, we just selected the standard ‘all writers’ quality.
You can also click a button so that Edubirdie picks the “best writer” for your assignment for an additional $9.99.
All the add-ons involved just make the hiring process more complex and not so transparent. This makes the request process more burdensome. But, all in all, the ordering form is very intuitive and easy to follow!

Writers’ Bids
When you finish filling out the ordering form, you click on ‘view writers’ offers’ to proceed. You should know that when you do so, you will be asked to either create an account or log in.
Personally, we consider having to create an Edubirdie account to purchase their essays a downside. It can be annoying to have to create an account for a service that you may only purchase one time.
So, what happens once you actually click view writers’ offers? Well, you will be taken to a page filled with a bunch of different writers you can choose from.
The thing about Edubirdie is they employ a bidding system. This means that you will choose between different writers, and these writers will have their own price. Nonetheless, the different writers’ prices were very close and similar in our experience.
Edubirdie separates these writers into “writers who best meet your project requirements” and “writers currently being bidded on.”
However, they do not specify why exactly these writers best meet your project’s requirements. The writers’ profiles also don’t really indicate why they would best meet your needs. We guess you just have to take their word for it!
You’re probably wondering how does one choose between so many writers? Well, you can chat with the writers and also take a look at their profiles, where they have a short bio and reviews.
The strange thing is around 8 seconds after clicking the ‘view writers offers’ button, we received messages from writers saying they had read my essay’s requirements and would be a good fit.
Considering the speed by which these writers contact you and supposedly read your essay’s requirements, they may be automated messages.
You might be curious as to what the writers message you. Well, the messages you receive from the writers aim to convince you to choose them. For example, we requested a writer who mentioned she’d be the perfect choice for the nursing essay because she has a master’s in nursing.
There was no way to prove that she does have a master’s in nursing. The writer’s names are not their full names (or maybe even real names), so there is no way of searching them on LinkedIn and verifying.
This presents a problem because you cannot verify your professional writer’s credentials as a client. Hence, it is very likely that you will end up with an essay or paper that does not match your requirements.

Check Your Order Page
When you actually decide upon a writer and click accept, you will be taken to another page where you can check your order before paying and add any extras.
These extras include:
- Getting the draft in advance
- Including an abstract
- VIP support
- Receiving an essay outline
We personally believe that these “extras” should be included as part of the service already and not needed to pay extra. But in this case, they are available to choose from and are not required.
After this page, you simply click “proceed to checkout” and pay for your essay.
Overall, we rate the ordering process an 8/10. This is because it is very easy and intuitive to follow; however, it can be a little difficult to choose between so many writers.

Communication With Writer
When it comes to purchasing an essay, you may desire direct communication with your writer. That way, you can ask them how they’re doing with the essay, relay any information necessary, etc.
So, if you order an Edubirdie essay, will you be able to directly communicate with your assigned writer? The answer is yes!
Through your Edubirdie account, you will be able to click ‘my orders’ and check your essay’s status and communicate with your writer through a chat box.
In our case, our assigned writer always responded in a very timely manner. I never had to wait a long time for a response.
However, in the case that you had an urgent piece of information to relay and they were not responding in the chat, there is no option to call your assigned writer. This clearly demonstrates the lack of personalized attention.
Overall, we rate the communication a 9/10. This is because you have direct communication with your writer, and they respond very quickly.
Essay Cost and Payment System
Okay, you’re probably curious about the cost of an Edubirdie essay by now. And wondering if you can even afford it.
Well, Edubirdie states that the price for essays begins at $13.99 per page as long as the deadline is 14 days or later. However, as we mentioned, they employ a bidding process, which means that prices vary depending on the writer.
In our case, we ordered a 4-page essay to be completed in 4 days and paid $111. That is about twice as much as was originally advertised on their page.
Other essay writing service companies often have a clear pricing page or table, thoroughly explaining what determines your essay’s price.
Unfortunately, Edubirdie does not have any sort of pricing page or table. Therefore, the client doesn’t know ANYTHING regarding how the price is decided apart from the deadline influencing the starting price of $13.99.
This is a definite downside of Edubirdie! At the end of the day, everybody wants to know where their money is going and what they are investing in. Having a pricing table or page allows a client to feel your service is more trustworthy and open.
The payment options you have available with Edubirdie are Paypal or Visa/MasterCard!
Edubirdie has a unique payment system! When you pay for your essay, your money is transferred to your Edubirdie funds. You will only release this payment to the writer once you are satisfied with the work you receive.
Why is this payment system helpful? Well, because it establishes a safeguard for your writer to be more willing to complete the essay and revisions successfully. This is because your writer knows that the sooner you are satisfied with your essay, the sooner they receive their payment!
Overall, we give Edubirdie’s cost a 6/10. This is because their starting price is quite low, although the downside is not knowing much about what goes into pricing.
Essay Quality
By now, you’re probably perked up on your seat, waiting to hear about the quality of Edubirdie essays.
One thing that surprised us was that we received the essay two days before the deadline we selected, which was only 4 days.
For the essay we ordered, we attached two documents: essay instructions and an essay guideline.
The essay instructions were helpful in terms of what sections you need to include and what information needs to be present within these sections. Whereas the essay guidelines were more helpful regarding how to format and structure your essay.
Although you could see the required essay sections in both the essay guidelines and instructions, one of the required sections was only mentioned in the instructions document.
In this required section that was missing from the guidelines, you had to write about a hypothetical scenario where a patient contracts the disease caused by the microorganism.
The essay we received was missing this section that was only mentioned in the instructions document. Although it is an understandable mistake, it goes to show that the assigned writer did not pay full attention to BOTH of the files that we uploaded.
In terms of the sections, they did include most of the required information within each section. However, some points were only briefly discussed or discussed at the surface level.
You may be worried about the English level of Edubirdie writers. To our surprise, we found only one grammatical error, which could indicate a poor level of English. However, overall the writer’s English could not be critiqued!
But, not everything is rainbow and butterflies; there were some negative aspects about the essay!
The essay’s two poor aspects would have to be: the overall clarity and the citations/references.
Essay Clarity
There were many sentences that weren’t only structured poorly but were unclear. Even after re-reading it 3 times, you still can’t understand the message! Below is an example of this lack of clarity.

We give the clarity of the essay a 7/10 due to there being some sentences that were difficult to understand.
The Biggest Downside: Poor APA Citations
The essay’s biggest flaw was the terrible citation skills! For example, in the first draft we received, there were sections with no references even though the information’s complexity indicated that it was clearly retrieved from a source.
Even after requesting a revision in order to fix the citing errors, the “fixed” version still had citing mistakes. It shocked us that the writer did not know proper APA citing techniques.
Some citing errors that remained included repeating a reference and citing images incorrectly; just take a look at the following examples:

We give the APA citations a 5/10. This is because even in the revised version, there were many citing mistakes.
So to sum it up, the essay was not the worst, but it was definitely not the best. In terms of content, it was a pretty average essay. Overall, the quality of the essay’s content was around a 7/10.
But definitely not an essay you can deliver straight away to your professor, considering the appalling references throughout!
Plagiarism
One thing EduBirdie got a 10/10 is plagiarism. After receiving the essay, we gave it to our in house Editor In Chief who ran it through our own editing software tools and found a 1% plagiarism score. What showed as plagiarized were two citations which is normal since these citations appear on the internet.
Overall, this was the one plus sign we saw in EduBirdie. The essay did not contain any plagiarized content. Therefore we gave them a 10/10.
Edubirdie's Essay Service Guarantees
A good thing about Edubirdie is you have certain guarantees!
First of all, your funds are only released to the writer when you feel satisfied with your essay. However, you should know that revisions have to be requested within three days of receiving the essay.
With Edubirdie, you can also request a refund (also within the span of three days) if you are unsatisfied with what you received.
However, the refund process is complex, and you must meet the criteria mentioned in their refund policy. So, you can’t be sure that you’ll receive a refund.
You may be wondering if Edubirdie has a grade guarantee. Unfortunately, they do not, and with the quality of the essay we received, it is clear that such a policy would not be a good call.
Now, you saw that we mentioned you have to request revisions or refunds within three days, but you’re probably wondering why. Well, if you do not request a refund or revisions within those three days, your money will be automatically released to the writer.
Overall, we rate the guarantees they offer a 5/10. This is because they don’t offer a grade guarantee, and the refund process is complex.
Is EduBirdie Legit?
If you were to ask us if Edubirdie is legit, we would respond somewhat.
In terms of their essay writing service, they are definitely legit. We received our essay on time, and we could request and receive revisions in a timely manner.
However, one major weakness of Edubirdie is that purchasing an essay from them feels very surrealistic as if you’re not talking to real humans.
This is because their writers’ profiles are not very “legit” at all!
To begin with, when you enter an Edubirdie writers’ profile, you can see their reviews that supposed clients give them. Oddly enough, no matter which writer’s profile you enter, you will notice that almost if not ALL of their reviews are 5 stars.
Something I noticed as well is that an actual poor comment we found about a writer still had a high star rating. This definitely doesn’t add up! Maybe Edubirdie automatically displays reviews as 4 stars or above, no matter the client’s remark.

Another “fake” aspect of Edubirdie is their writers’ profile pictures. Even upon first look at the writers’ profile pictures, you get a sense that they aren’t real.
But we actually placed an Edubirdie writer’s profile picture through Google reverse image search and confirmed our initial thoughts. Take a look below!

Prof. Gibb’s photo already seemed a little too perfect, and when we fed it through a reverse image search, it revealed that it is indeed a fake photo.
The last aspect of Edubirdie, which makes it seem fake, is the speed by which you receive writers’ bids.
As we mentioned earlier, seconds after placing your order, you receive bids and messages from writers saying they’ve read your order and are perfect for the job.
Now, unless they are superhumans, this is a little bit impossible. So, the chats you receive in the bidding process may just be automatic messages.
The PapersOwl Connection
Finally, there is one final aspect we need to cover regarding EduBirdie’s legitimacy. But to do that, we’ll need to talk about another essay-writing service: PapersOwl.
Just by taking a quick look at both companies’ branding, it’s impossible not to tell that they are basically the same.
This made us doubt it, and in our research, we found that behind them (and other two companies), there is one large company that uses the same writers and databases.
You can find all of this explained in detail and with proofs in our PapersOwl review.
So not only do they have fake reviews on their writers’ profiles, their writers use fake images, and the chats you receive from writers are automated, but they are also not even the company they claim to be.
That’s why we are giving them a 4/10 in legitimacy.

Our Verdict
So, what do we rate Edubirdie? Considering our ratings regarding their ordering process, communication with the writer, cost, essay’s clarity, APA formatting, essay content, guarantees, and legitimacy, we give Edubirdie’s essay writing service an overall rating of 6.4/10.
A pro of Edubirdie is their fund’s system where the money isn’t directly given to the writer. This can be a safeguard so that the writer doesn’t leave with your money instead of fixing your complaints or needs for revisions.
Also, a pro is that the writers reply very quickly; you don’t have to wait hours for a response. In our case, they responded within minutes. Yet, the only way to communicate is through a chat option within your Edubirdie account.
Some cons of Edubirdie are the terrible APA citing skills, having to create an account to purchase their services, and the fake photos and reviews.
Do we recommend Edubirdie? Well, we would personally not recommend Edubirdie for those looking for a one-stop-shop.
If you are looking for a high quality service and want a well-crafted essay that you don’t even have to modify before handing it over to your professor, Edubirdie is NOT for you.
However, Edubirdie might be a good fit for you if you’re looking for a basis or reference point for your essay. If you are willing to tweak the essay quite a bit before handing it to your professor, then go for it.
Maybe you are struggling to get started on writing and need a little inspiration and structure for the writing. If this is the case, Edubirdie seems like a great place to go.
Now you have a personal experience and honest information to make an informed and empowered decision. Edubirdie might or might not be for you, but we have explained everything you need to know to determine if you will be trusting your essays with them. It’s an important decision, and we want to make sure you feel right about it.
